Complex Room Blocking Scenario at a Boutique Hotel

A boutique hotel came to us with a vexing problem. They had a set of five suites that could be combined in different ways to create listings.

The problems was being approached by others as a parent-child or multi-generational listing situation. However, this was not solving the problem. Combinations of “sibling” suites were not supported in Hostaway. Thus Hostvisors analyzed the scenario and came up with custom programming to block and unblock rooms. We then migrated the customer from their previous channel manager and onto Hostaway. We used tools that did not cause the hotel to have ongoing monthly expenses after the initial set-up.

 

Listings on new Channels: Booking, Expedia, Google Travel

He wanted to capture a greater segment of travelers, but the task seemed daunting due to the number of options. Since platforms like Expedia are made specifically for the hotel industry it’s challenging to list STRs. Rate plans and meal plans need to be chosen, for example, and contracts need to be negotiated and signed. Payment collection is not automatic by platforms like Booking.com. Hostvisors analyzed his listings, created a plan, and then executed it. He became listed on Expedia, Booking.com, and Google Travel. Going the extra mile to list properties on large platforms paid off, as he got 30% of his bookings from Booking.com in the first year!

Stripe started partially withholding her funds & she was in danger of losing her processing account. She had made significant revenue from Booking.com, but the rampant fraud was causing her to rethink her decision. Hostvisors worked with Her to develop a custom Guest Registration form. Unlike other expensive solutions in the market, the solution was cost-effective. It allowed her to collect IDs and ask pointed questions designed to suss out fraud. It added a bit of time to her guest procedure, but after implementing these measures, along with getting set up with Booking.com for payment collection, she was thrilled to report no more chargebacks!

They had tried the Zapier integration available, but it didn’t quite give them the deep integration they needed. They came to us and we set up an integration that automatically updated with new reservations, changed reservations, and modified reservations within their business. It allowed them to account for upsells from their guest portal that were purchased later on during the guest's stay.

He decided to convert some of his second homes to short-term rentals. Hostvisors helped him set up the seven rentals he had and assisted him in learning his Hostaway system. We set up a guest registration form for him as part of this effort. With this, he is able to collect guest addresses, phone numbers, and real emails, and ask many questions. This ensured that no “anonymous” guests would be in his rentals. It also allowed him to collect information that we automatically transferred to his email marketing software.

We built a site for her using the WordPress plugin available with Hostaway. The ability to have multiple pages, a custom look, custom branding and URL, and other features extended the out-of-the-box functionality available in Hostaway. This gave Melody and her customers the tailored experience that grew her book-direct business by 30%. Migration from Lodgify to Hostaway

A customer came to us because the website builder on Lodgify was displaying the full price of the reservation instead of the actual cost per night.

She felt this was adversely affecting sales as website visitors may interpret the displayed price as representing the nightly price, causing them to turn way. Migrating this customer to Hostaway allowed her to use Hostaway’s booking site, which displays price per night. Other parts of the migration included copying the automated messaging, bringing over blocked nights and reservations from Lodgify to Hostaway well into one year in the future, and taking inventory of guests who had made 50% payments towards their vacations.
